Hyundai Genesis Coupe 2010 Performance & Safety

Performance and safety

In the Genesis Coupe, we’ve factored them into every decision.

When you’re travelling in a vehicle built for spirited performance and outstanding handling, you want to ensure you arrive safely. Genesis Coupe has been designed with just that goal in mind.

The Hyundai Genesis performs with your choice of two powerful, reliable engines: the 210 HP 2.0L turbocharged intercooled 4-cylinder, 16-valve, DOHC with Dual Continuously Variable Valve Timing (CVVT) or the 306 HP 3.8L V6, 24-valve, DOHC with Dual CVVT.

And Genesis Coupe comes standard with a 6-speed manual transmission, or the option of a 5-speed electronic automatic transmission with lockup torque converter and paddle shift with SHIFTRONIC™ (on 2.0L, except GT) or ZF 6-speed electronic automatic transmission with torque converter and paddle shift with SHIFTRONIC™ (on 3.8L).

Standard on all Genesis Coupe models is Electronic Stability Control with Traction Control System (with one-push defeat), a cutting-edge driving stability system designed to sense oversteer and understeer conditions. During unexpected and dangerous situations, it adjusts the braking power of each wheel utilizing the Traction Control System to help restore the driver’s intended course.

Complementing the Genesis’ performance is an unparalleled level of safety features, including an Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA).

And should the unforeseen occur, the Genesis Coupe is equipped with dual front airbags with Occupant Classification System (OCS), plus front seat-mounted side-impact and roof-mounted side-curtain airbags to surround its occupants in protection.

Peformance Highlights

Rear-wheel drive puts power to the road.

The Genesis Coupe’s front-engine, rear-wheel drive layout helps balance the force of traction on the tires and delivers a 55/45 front-to-rear weight distribution for exceptional handling and balance.

Powerful, fuel-efficient engine.

Equip your Genesis Coupe with your choice of engine: a 2.0L, 210 hp, 16-valve, turbocharged 4-cylinder engine or an all-aluminum 3.8L, 306 hp, 24-valve V6. Both engines feature Dual Continuously Variable Valve Timing (Dual-CVVT) and can run on regular fuel.

2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe

Performance-tuned suspension for solid handling.

The Genesis Coupe features cutting-edge suspension and steering hardware – the most critical components of a world-class performer. This superior GT-calibrated suspension system features the torque-sensing ability of an available Torsen®-type limited-slip differential and the enhanced control of an independent 5-link rear suspension design and gas-charged hydraulic shock absorbers to optimize road surface contact and improve body/wheel control, without compromising handling.

2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe

Paddle-shift for hands-on performance.

The Genesis Coupe 3.8 models are available with a ZF 6-speed electronic automatic transmission, while the 2.0T models are available with a 5-speed automatic transmission. Both feature the F1-inspired paddle-shift SHIFTRONIC™ and a lock-up torque converter for improved highway economy (not available on GT).

Safety Highlights

High-Intensity Discharge headlights for superior nighttime visibility.

The Genesis’ available High-Intensity Discharge (HID) headlights provide improved nighttime visibility and offer an automatic light control, enabling the headlamps to automatically swivel for better visibility when cornering.

2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe

Electronic Stability Control for added safety.

Standard on all Genesis Coupe models is Electronic Stability Control (ESC) with Traction Control System (TCS), a cutting-edge driving stability system designed to sense oversteer and understeer conditions. During unexpected and dangerous situations, it adjusts the braking power of each wheel utilizing the Traction Control System to help restore the driver’s course.

Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Traction Control System (TCS) are meant to enhance conscientious driving habits and are not a substitute for safe driving practices.

2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe

Occupant-surrounding airbags.

Equipped with six standard airbags – dual front with Occupant Classification System (OCS), two front seat-mounted side-impact airbags, and two roof-mounted side-curtain airbags – the Genesis Coupe surrounds its occupants in protection.

The Supplemental Restraint (Airbag) System (SRS) is designed to work with the 3-point seatbelt system. The SRS deploys in certain frontal and/or side-impact conditions where significant injury is likely. The SRS is not a substitute for seatbelts, which must still be worn at all times. Children under the age of 13 should be securely restrained in the rear seat. NEVER place a child-seat in the front seat of a Hyundai vehicle.

Found on the world’s fastest performance cars, the available Brembo® Braking System with 4-piston red calipers proves the perfect match for the Genesis Coupe’s choice of powerful engines (GT models only).
