Hyundai Sonata 2011 Performance & Safety

Performance and safety.

In the Sonata, you get ample measures of each.

Whether you’re travelling solo, or with friends and family, you want to arrive safely. The 2011 Hyundai Sonata takes safety seriously, with an unparalleled level of features designed to help you avoid accidents.

First on the list is Electronic Stability Control (ESC) with Traction Control System (TCS): designed to keep your vehicle driving straight in slippery or icy conditions, it automatically applies power or braking to the appropriate wheels when it detects that the car is skidding.

To that, we add an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) with Brake Assist (BA) and six airbags – including dual front airbags, front seat-mounted side-impact airbags, plus front and rear side-curtain airbags – to ensure you get where you’re going in safety, as well as in style. Most importantly, all of these features are standard on every 2011 Sonata.

When it comes to power, the 2011 Sonata boasts the revolutionary Theta II 2.4L 4-cylinder GDI engine. GDI stands for Gasoline Direct-Injection – a fuel delivery system that allows for greater control of the fuel mixture, resulting in best-in-class^ fuel economy while delivering a best-in-class* 198 horsepower.

Then, the engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission (automatic transmission optional on GL and standard on GLS and Limited models) that provides a superior balance of performance and fuel economy.

The new 2011 Sonata blends safety and performance in a four-door sedan you’ll be proud to drive with the confidence to carry your most-cherished people.

^ Fuel economy comparison based on combined fuel consumption rating for the 2011 Sonata GL 6-speed manual (City: 8.7L/100km, Hwy: 5.7L/100km, Combined: 7.35L/100km) and 2010 EnerGuide combined fuel consumption ratings for the full-size vehicle class.
