    • Purchase or lease information: When you buy or lease a vehicle, dealers may collect information about you that includes your contact information, information included in any application for credit (including financial information, and information about your assets and liabilities) that will be shared with Hyundai and, in the case of a pre-ordered vehicle, a copy of your government-issued ID.
    • Call Center interactions: Information from your communications with our call center, including call recordings for quality assurance.
    • Feedback and inquiries: Details you provide when contacting us, giving feedback, or making complaints or inquiries.
    • Employment applications: If you apply for a job with us, we may collect your education and employment history, information relating to your qualifications, and results of any criminal record or background checks.
  • Electronic Event Data Recorders (EDRs): Your vehicle may have an EDR that records information about the vehicle and its occupants before and during certain events, like collisions. This data helps understand how events occur and may include details such as vehicle speed, seat belt usage, and airbag deployment. While EDRs don't record personal information like names or ages, the data could be combined with personal information during investigations by law enforcement, insurance companies, Hyundai, regulators, government officials, or other interested parties. Reading EDR data requires special equipment and access to the EDR.

The collection of your personal information may be subject to any other terms provided to you at the time of any transaction.

2. Using Personal Information

We use your personal information to provide services you request, for other purposes you have agreed to, and as allowed by law. This includes:

 

  • Website interaction: When you visit the Hyundai Website, we may collect technical information to help us improve website functionality and security, understand the behavior of visitors to our website (website analytics), and improve user experience. This involves processing personal information such as the following: information you submit voluntarily, device IP address, access times, browser type and settings, internet service provider, and information related to your operating system, and may involve the use of third-party analytics service providers.
  • Providing services: We use personal information to keep client databases, process transactions, fulfill orders, provide services related to vehicle warranties, maintenance, and parts, and provide customer support.

Essential Web-Based Tools help keep the Hyundai Website secure, including by detecting and preventing fraud, and help us understand how you use the Hyundai Website. We may facilitate your use of third-party products and services, like connecting your mobile phone with your vehicle. For example, services such as Android Auto™ or Apple® CarPlay may require us to share your personal information with these third parties.

 

Hyundai does not control these third-party products and services, and we are not responsible for their privacy practices or terms. Before using these services, we recommend reading the third parties’ privacy policies and terms of use.

 

SiriusXM subscription

 

If you buy or lease a Hyundai vehicle with a trial subscription to SiriusXM satellite radio, we or the dealer may share your personal information with SiriusXM Canada Inc. and its affiliates (together, the "Sirius XM Entities"). This includes your name, address, phone number, email, vehicle model, and the serial number of your vehicle’s SiriusXM receiver. We share this information to activate your trial subscription, allow SiriusXM to offer additional products or services, and send marketing materials (e.g. renewal offers) by email. We may also share data about the performance or usage of SiriusXM in your vehicle with SiriusXM to improve products and services.

In some cases, we may ask you to submit your request in writing.

8. Children’s Privacy

We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 14 years old without verifiable parental/guardian consent. If you believe your child has provided their personal information without your consent, please contact us at privacy@hyundaicanada.com to have this information deleted.
