At Hyundai, we are proud to offer an award-winning standard warranty that is one of the best in Canada. We also offer several Extended Protection plans for maximum coverage flexibility. 

To help you make the best choice for your vehicle and lifestyle, we will be walking you through some of these warranties and extra protection plans below. Hyundai Standard Warranty

All new Hyundai vehicles come with Hyundai’s Standard Warranty, which currently includes the following:

  • 5 years/first 100,000 km (whichever comes first): Comprehensive Limited Warranty
    • Repair or replacement of any part that Hyundai manufactured or originally installed which was found to be defective in material or workmanship, under normal use and maintenance. Some limits and restrictions apply.
    • Radio, sound systems, and DVD systems are covered for the first 3 years or 60,000 km; paint is covered for the first 3 years or 60,000 km; the car battery is covered for the first 2 years or 40,000 km.
  • 5 years/first 100,000 km (whichever comes first): Powertrain Warranty
    • Repair or replacement of many Hyundai powertrain components, including your vehicle’s engine, transmission/transaxle, and 4WD components, if they are found to be defective in material or factory workmanship under normal use and maintenance.
  • 5 years/first 100,000 km (whichever comes first): Emission System Warranty
    • Repair or replace essential emissions components under eligible circumstances. Please see Service Passport for complete details.
  • 8 years/first 130,000 km (whichever comes first): Major Emission Warranty
    • Repair or replace your vehicle’s Catalytic Converter, Engine Control Module, and/or Onboard Emissions Diagnostics Device (OBDII) under eligible circumstances. Please see Service Passport for complete details.
  • 8 years/first 160,000 km (whichever comes first): Hybrid System or Electric Vehicle System coverage (on applicable vehicles)
    • Repair or replace the original Hybrid or EV components of your vehicle (if applicable) if they are found to be defective in material or workmanship, under normal use and maintenance.
  • 5 years (unlimited km): enrollment in Hyundai’s Roadside Assistance Program
    • Access Hyundai’s 24/7 Roadside Assistance Program, which includes a towing service if your vehicle is inoperable, lockout assistance, fuel delivery, battery boosts, flat tire assistance, mechanical first aid, winching and extrication, trip accident assistance service, and a U.S. Arrest Bond Certificate service.

Hyundai Extended Protection Plans Warranties

While Hyundai’s standard warranty plan is thorough, our Extended Protection Plans offer more comprehensive warranty coverage. We have a few different plans available for new vehicles, including our Premium, Premium Plus, and Technology Premium Plus warranties.

Hyundai Premium Warranty

Hyundai’s Premium Warranty offers extensive coverage for Hyundai vehicles’ mechanical parts. 

The Premium Warranty plan covers over 135 items, with thorough coverage for the following categories:

  • Drive axle: includes axle shafts, axle bearings, and more.
  • Engine: includes crankshaft, oil pump, and more.
  • Transmission: includes internal transmission parts, hydraulic clutch, and more.
  • Transfer case: includes transfer case housing, all internal parts, and more.
  • Air conditioner: includes condenser and compressor, expansion valve, and more.
  • Steering: includes power steering pump, control valve, and more.
  • Brakes: includes master cylinder, ABS hydraulic control unit, and more.
  • Cooling: includes thermostat, radiator/heater core, and more.
  • Electric/Hybrid vehicle components: includes automatic transmission, hybrid power control unit, and more.
  • Turbocharger: includes assembly, waste gate system, and more.

Additionally, the Premium Warranty plan offers coverage for many items related to your Hyundai’s electrical system, fuel delivery system, and suspension.

Hyundai Premium Plus Warranty

The Premium Plus Warranty covers almost all vehicle components, including the engine, transmission, electrical system, and more. The non-covered components are accessory items, Wear and Tear Items and Cosmetic Items.

Terms and conditions apply to your coverage, so it is important to check your contract for all relevant information. That said, the Premium Plus warranty plan’s comprehensive coverage ultimately makes it a great companion for everyday driving.

Hyundai Technology Premium Plus Warranty

Our Hyundai Technology Premium Plus plan provides coverage for your car’s audio system (radio, antenna, navigation system, Bluetooth connectivity, and speakers that were installed by the manufacturer). Perfect for audiophiles, it’s a great way to ensure that your Hyundai sounds incredible for years to come.

Additional Hyundai Extended Protection Benefits

Beyond mechanical warranty coverage, all Hyundai Extended Protection warranties come with the following perks (terms and conditions apply for all benefits): 

  • 24/7 Roadside Assistance: Hyundai Extended Protection customers can access our Extended 24-Hour Roadside Assistance perk, which comes with mechanical first aid, fuel delivery, battery boosting, flat tire and lockout assistance, towing and winching, and a U.S. arrest bond certificate.
  • Trip Interruption Benefit: If your vehicle breaks down and requires an overnight repair while you are more than 100 km from your home, you may be entitled to up to $100/day (max $300 per trip).
  • Car Rental Benefit: If your car is being repaired, you may be entitled to up to $50/day to rent a vehicle (up to $250/repair).

All Extended Protection warranties are transferable, allowing you a greater degree of leverage if selling your car in the future. Extended Protection warranties are also refundable within 45 days.

Additionally, drivers who opt for the Hyundai Premium Plus warranty also qualify for a couple of non-transferable perks: our Claim-Free Reward and Trade-In Benefit. 

  • Claim-Free Reward: If you do not file any claims through your Extended Protection plan before its expiry date, you will qualify for a credit towards a new Hyundai Protection Plan.
  • Trade-In Benefit: If you trade in your Hyundai before your Extended Protection plan’s expiry date, you’ll qualify for a prorated credit towards a new Hyundai Protection Plan.

Hyundai Protection Plans

While Hyundai’s Extended Protection warranties provide extensive coverage for your vehicle’s mechanical parts, we also offer the following protection plans to safeguard against non-mechanical issues:

  • Appearance Protection Premium: Covers a range of cosmetic issues, including minor rips, tears, and burns in upholstery, as well as windshield damage caused by road hazards. Also covers paintless dent repair, in addition to key and keyless remote replacement.
  • Tire & Rim Protection: Covers up to $100 in towing fees under certain conditions and offers a food and lodging stipend if you are stranded over 400 km from home because of a road hazard incident. Additionally, if you need to repair alloy or machine-finished rims because of road hazards, enjoy coverage for rim repairs, rim shipping fees, and rental car fees.
  • Appearance Protection Premium Plus: A bundle that combines the benefits of Appearance Protection Premium and Tires & Rim Protection.
  • Paintless Dent Repair: Covers paintless dent repair for small dents and dings (2” in diameter or smaller).
  • Windshield Protection: Covers repairs for small chips and cracks on the front windshield (2” or smaller). 
  • Theft Protection: Provides money towards a replacement vehicle or insurance deductible (depending on situation) if your vehicle is stolen. Also provides a traveller allowance if the vehicle was stolen over 160 km from home and an airfare allowance if the car was stolen over 800 km from home.

Since brake pads are considered a wear and tear item, they are not covered under Hyundai’s warranty. However, our warranties cover most brake components (including the master cylinder, backing plates, ABS hydraulic control unit, and more).
