MARKHAM, ONT. (Dec 21, 2023) – Hyundai Canada, together with CDK Global, Hyundai Capital Canada and PBS Systems, joined forces to support people experiencing homelessness in York Region, raising $15,283 during the annual Hockey Helps the Homeless (HHTH) tournament. This is the second year Hyundai Canada has participated in the tournament, a national initiative that leverages Canada’s affinity for hockey to raise awareness and financial support for the homeless. All funds go directly to 360°kids and Blue Door.
“Thank you to our partners for joining us in this effort to support the community of York Region. Through our work with 360ºkids, our executive team has gained a new level of appreciation for the impact these organizations make on the lives of vulnerable community members,” says Kirk Merrett, director of human resources and administration of Hyundai Canada and board member at 360°kids. “Supporting the important work of 360°kids and Blue Door through hockey, a game that is close to many Canadians and is a core pillar for Hyundai in Canada, has been incredibly rewarding to our team members.”
Since inception, HHTH has granted over $24-million to fight homelessness nationally and the York Region tournament alone has granted over $1.7 million to local partner agencies that provide support services to those currently experiencing homelessness. Hyundai Canada’s involvement in the tournament stems from its long-standing charitable partnership with 360ºkids, an organization dedicated to preventing youth homelessness in York Region by giving youth the skills and resources to stand on their own two feet.
“We are delighted to join hands with Hyundai Canada and Hockey Helps the Homeless—a wonderful cause that brings positive change to our communities,” says Jen Cole, vice president of OEM Business at CDK Global. “CDK is proud to support this impactful collaboration, fostering a spirit of giving and making a meaningful difference together.”
“Playing with purpose applies in all aspects of life, not only on the ice. PBS Systems is pleased to support Hockey Helps the Homeless and the meaningful work they do to help eliminate homelessness,” says Lynn McNeill, senior vice president of PBS Systems. “Unfortunately, this time of year many people don't have the support they need, and we appreciate this annual hockey tournament that brings us closer to our partners, all in the spirit of giving."
