01 Driving Lifestyle & Powertrain
Operating solely on electric power, an electric powertrain produces zero driving emissions. Our electric vehicle lineup offers an exceptionally impressive driving range of up to 488 kms on select models. Charge from home or at work, and never stop for gas.
Electric when you want it. Gas when you need it. Enjoy the best of both worlds with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. These powertrains feature a larger battery compared to a hybrid, which gives you the option to drive on electric power only for shorter trips. If you need to go farther, the plug-in hybrid powertrain will simply start using the gasoline engine like a traditional hybrid, capable of reaching over 700 kms on select models.
By using a full-parallel hybrid drive system, our Hybrid models can run on a gasoline internal combustion engine, an electric motor or both. With both these motors running, a selection of our Hybrid vehicles are capable of reaching 1,000 kms. They utilize these two energy sources seamlessly and will automatically switch between gas power, electric power, or both, to optimize power and fuel efficiency based on the speed and type of driving you’re doing.
A Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle, like the Hyundai NEXO, is an electric vehicle that is powered through an electrochemical process, where the only exhaust emission is pure water. Enjoy an impressive driving range of up to 570 kms of green driving with a full charge. We are proud to be the first automotive manufacturer to offer this vehicle to the Canadian public.

A Level 1 charger (1.4 kW) which is the standard household outlet takes approximately 48 hours for a full charge. A Level 2 charger (7.2 kW) can provide a full charge in about 9 hours and 35 minutes. Level 3 (50 kW) and 4 (100 kW) chargers can provide an 80% charge in 54 to 75 minutes. Times are not guaranteed and can vary.
Based on where you live and which powertrain you are purchasing, you may be eligible for various regional, provincial and federal government incentives. In Canada, you can get $5,000 in federal incentives if you purchase an Electric Vehicle, and you can get $2,500 in federal incentives if you purchase a Plug-in Hybrid.
You'll be surprised at the number of available public charging stations in easy-to-access, convenient areas. With charging station apps like ChargeHub, PlugShare, Chargepoint, MyEVRoute, Electric Circuit and Flo, you’ll always find a station nearby. Plus, new locations are being added all of the time.
Many parking lots across Canada feature exclusive spots for your electric vehicle to park and charge. And depending on where you park, some of the charging can be free. Additionally, in some provinces, having a Green Vehicle license plate grants you access to convenient High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes as a solo driver.
The cost of charging an electric vehicle varies depending on the price of electricity in your province and which time of day you choose to charge. A helpful solution for owners to charge during off-peak hours is to set the charging system to accept a charge during this specific time frame. All you have to do is set it and forget it.
04 Charging Close to Home
Level 1 or 120-volt charging features a conventional three-prong plug that works with any properly grounded wall socket. This is the slowest type of charging and, depending on your battery capacity and model, may take up to 48 hours for a full charge.
Level 2 or 240-volt charging is common at most dedicated home and public charging stations. Charging will be at least twice as fast as Level 1. If you wish to install a charging station at home, it will require the same type of wiring as an electric stove or clothes dryer.
DC fast charging uses direct current (DC) rather than household alternating current (AC) and is very high-powered. This type of charging is commonly found only at public sites, often along highways, given the higher cost of installing dedicated high-powered lines.
To help battle the tough Canadian winters, each EV offers an available battery temperature management system. Like a trickle-charger, this system pre-warms the battery while the vehicle is connected to the charger to help maximize performance and minimize cold temperature range loss.
