Electric cars, or battery electric vehicles (BEVs), have an electric powertrain and motor that is powered by a large battery. These vehicles are 100% non-emitting. You can only “fuel” them by plugging into a wall outlet or electric vehicle charging station to charge up the battery.

Drivers who own a Hyundai EV with native-CCS charging ports have an opportunity to receive a complimentary CCS to NACS charging adapter, for use at NACS Chargers. See your dealer for the list of qualifying Hyundai EV models, depending on your model and model year. You will be required to enroll in Bluelink for In-App Charging and complete an 'EV Special Care' service. Only one complimentary charger is available per vehicle. Hyundai EVs can be charged at many Tesla Superchargers. Vehicles equipped with a NACS port can use NACS compatible chargers directly, while vehicles equipped with a CCS port can use a CCS-to-NACS adapter for use at Tesla Superchargers.

Hyundai Canada offers a variety of electric vehicles with varying ranges. It's important to note that actual range may vary depending on factors such as driving habits, temperature, and terrain.

• The 2026 Hyundai IONIQ 5 Preferred Long Range RWD has an estimated range of up to 504 km on a full charge.
• The 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 6 Preferred Long Range RWD has an estimated range of up to 550 km on a full charge.
• The 2026 Hyundai KONA Electric has an estimated range of up to 420 km on a full charge.
• The 2026 Hyundai TUCSON Plug-in Hybrid has an estimated all-electric range of up to 51 km, based on a two-hour charge with its plug-in capability (using a 220V/240V Level 2 charger).

The cost of charging an electric vehicle varies depending on the price of electricity in your province and which time of day you choose to charge. A helpful solution for owners to charge during off-peak hours is to set the charging system to accept a charge during this specific time frame.  All you have to do is set it and forget it. An electric vehicle can experience a loss of range in extreme cold temperatures. The primary reasoning behind range reduction is that the electric vehicle must power a separate electric heater that draws power from the high-voltage battery. To counteract this natural response, our electric vehicles come with a Heat Pump System, which turns atmospheric heat into cabin heat reducing the use of the HVAC system. In addition, our electric vehicles also come with a Battery Temperature Management System that preheats the battery while charging to aid in reducing range loss. These two systems help take on Canadian winters while providing owners with that extra bit of driving confidence.

A Hybrid vehicle uses both a gasoline engine and electric motor for propulsion. An electric vehicle uses only an electric motor for propulsion – no gasoline required. The electric vehicle’s high-density battery needs to be periodically charged through an external electrical power source. 

Hyundai electric and hybrid vehicles come with a 5-year/100,000 km comprehensive warranty and an 8-year/160,000 km warranty for hybrid and electric components.

Hyundai's EV batteries are designed to last for many charge cycles, and are eligible for warranty replacementif they no longer hold 70% of their original capacity within the first 8 years or 160,000 km. See the Service Passport for details.

Hyundai owners can precondition their EV batteries through the infotainment system. Select "EV" on the infotainment display, then click on the settings icon on the bottom of the screen. Next, select "Battery Conditioning", then click "Activate". Alternatively, your Hyundai will automatically begin preconditioning its battery if you use the infotainment system to locate and navigate to a charging station.

Car batteries are covered under Hyundai's warranty.

The Hyundai TUCSON, SANTA FE, PALISADE, ELANTRA, and SONATA are currently available as hybrid vehicles.

Battery health can vary depending on model. If you are an EV owner of the 2026 IONIQ 9, or if your Hyundai EV model year is 2027 onwards, you can refer to your vehicle's infotainment screen, navigate to the "Electric Vehicle" menu, and click "Battery Health" to check your EV's current Battery Health.
